 How Much Does It Cost?

Our standard rate is $50/hour for a group of two sharing a headset. Additional players can be added for $10/person per hour. The maximum number of participants for regular groups is 7. Larger groups and parties are charged at our group rate.

 What Are the Hours of Operation?

The Portal Winnipeg is open 7 days a week, by appointment only.

 How Can I Pay?

We currently take credit cards for online bookings, and can accept cash or credit card on location. Debit cards and cheques are currently not accepted at The Portal Winnipeg.

 When Should I Book? How Far In Advance?

Weekend slots tend to book up fast, so we recommend booking 2-3 weeks in advance.

Larger groups or parties (where both headsets are used) should be booked 4-6 weeks in advance.

 How long should I book for?

A single one hour booking should suffice as a taster for groups of up to 3 participants. For 4 participants or more, we recommend booking upwards of 2 hours.

 Where can I park?

Street parking is available, and there is a parking lot between our building and Deer + Almond.

 When should I arrive?

Please aim to arrive 5 minutes prior to your booking. We do not have a waiting room, so you may have to wait outside the building if you come too early!

 Can I wear glasses?

While some glasses do fit comfortably within the headset, we highly recommend wearing contacts if possible.

 What should I wear?

Virtual reality can be quite energetic so we advise comfortable clothing, but this is not compulsory. Shoes are removed when using the virtual reality system to avoid damage to the mat.

 Do you have any age restrictions?

We do not have age restrictions, but recommend players to be 7 and over. Players under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. We have no upper age limit, and have hosted players in their mid 80’s!

 Can we take pictures or videos?

Absolutely — we actively encourage it! You may also live stream if you like.

 Do you guys have a league?

We are working on setting up leagues and tournaments. Check our social media pages for updates.

 Are there rules and regulations I should be aware of?

All participants must sign a waiver prior to playing.

Alcohol may not be consumed on the premises (we are working on getting a liquor licence).

 Do you have a cancellation policy?

We require at least 48 hours notice for a full refund.

 Can we bring our own food and drink?

We have a selection of food and drinks for sale. Tap water is available free of charge!

 Do you guys provide gift certificates?

Yes! Gift certificates are available for purchase here!

 Will we be shown what to do?

Standard bookings will be hosted throughout, ensuring that everyone has the best time possible, and that the equipment is used safely.

 If I am accompanying my child, and do not intend to play, will I have to pay?

Observing parents and/or guardians of players under 18 can attend at no additional cost.

 Is it safe?

Yes. We have not had anyone hurt or injured in any way. A full safety briefing is provided before the headset it worn, and standard bookings are hosted by an employee throughout.
